According to Variety, a judge has granted Megan the permission to release the remix to BTS’ smash hit after the ‘Savage’ femcee filed a petition in Harris County, Texas, on Tuesday, August 24th, claiming that her record label was preventing the release.
A remix of the single which features Megan had reportedly been completed, according to TMZ and Variety, but court documents acquired by the outlet indicate that 1501 Certified Entertainment was preventing the track from being released, as claimed by Megan’s team.
According to TMZ, Meg’s label feels the track would not benefit her brand, but the femcee firmly disagrees, believing it will help her establish an international following. Furthermore, the court documents indicate that Megan’s label was demanding a six-figure payment from the artist in order to allow the release of the song.
Prior to the track’s original release date on Friday, 27th August, Megan had already obtained an order prohibiting label head Carl Crawford and 1501 from obstructing new music releases, TMZ reports.
This incident, however, isn’t the first time the rapper has faced trouble in releasing new music. Meg previously took to her Instagram Live back in March, claiming her label was hindering the release of new tracks, to which she filed a lawsuit, seeking for a judge to dismiss her contract with the label.
We are delighted to learn that the collaboration has obtained the required rights to be released since the song is set to benefit all parties and will most certainly rocket to the top of the Billboard Hot 100, just like the original did for nine weeks when it debuted.
