Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak’s Sonic has announced that their debut album is scheduled to be released in January 2022.

In March, the duo released their soulful debut single “Leave the Door Open,” followed by “Skate,” a self-described “summertime groove.”

The pair had initially intended to release the body of work in autumn this year, before pushing it back to January of 2022.

Speaking of the decision to push back the release date, the pair told Rolling Stone that they prefer to release some more singles, so as to give their fans time to appreciate each release.

Mars said: “I don’t want to be binge-watched,” seemingly referring to a technique streaming services like Netflix will release their original series for consumption.

He then added: “We’re really in touch-up mode now. We’ve got the bones of most of the album, so it’s really about touching up parts that need a little more… grease.”

The duo also talked about how they met and how they became friends where they explained to have met during Mars’ European tour for his ’24K Magic’ tour, in which .Paak joined as an opening act.

“I was opening for the ‘24K Magic’ tour,” he explained. “And a week in, we were in the studio.”

“Real quick!” Mars added.

Touching on collaborations, the two claimed their first goal was to transform backstage laughs they’d made on tour, dubbed “jibb talk,” into songs.

With a grin, Paak explained, “jibb talk” is “bullshit with a smile — we just talk all day and do bits. But it’s all from the heart, because we’re writing from our experiences, from our relationships — it’s rare that two men can come together and talk about love.”

‘An Evening With Silk Sonic,’ will mark the first complete body of work for both artists in at least two years, as .Paak previously released his fourth studio album, ‘Ventura’ in 2019, and the last full solo effort from Mars was 2016’s ’24K Magic.’

Keep it locked to YEEEAAH! Network for Silk Sonic’s impending single releases.
