Britney Spears said in her conservatorship court case that her mother Lynne prohibited her from practicing ‘self-care’ for a year.
Britney Spears, 39, appeared in court on Wednesday to ask the LA judge to release her from a conservatorship that has given her father Jamie authority over her life including her $60 million wealth for the last 13 years, with only a weekly allowance of $2,000.
While there were several troubling revelations in her statement, Britney stated that her mother informed her there were no shops available for styling, yet her mother and maids turned up with their nails and hair done.
The songbird revealed: “It also took a year, during COVID, to get me any self-care methods. [My mom] said there were no services available. She’s lying, ma’am… For a year, I didn’t have my nails done — no hairstyling and no massages, no acupuncture.”
Adding: “Nothing for a year. I saw the maids in my home each week with their nails done different each time. She made me feel like my dad does. Very similar, her behavior and my dad, but just a different dynamic.”

Britney pleaded for her emancipation from her father’s clutches during an emotional and passionate 25-minute petition to Judge Brenda Penny.
The ‘Overprotected’ singer pleaded with the judge, saying:
“I want this conservatorship to end – I truly believe that this conservatorship is abusive. I want to be able to get married to my boyfriend and have a baby but the conservatorship told me I can’t do that.”
She goes on to say that her contraception is under the supervision of her conservators: ” ‘I have an IUD (intrauterine device) inside me to prevent me from having a baby.
“I want to go to a doctor and take it out so I can have a baby but they (the conservatorship) told me no. I feel ganged up on and bullied and alone.”
Britney was evidently prepared this time around for her court appearance, as per her testimony in court, to which she began by saying:
“I have a lot to say, so bear with me. I don’t think I was heard on any level when I came to court last time.”
Spears last spoke before the judge in May of 2019, but the court proceeding was closed to the public and her testimony sealed.
There were no petitions heard during the status hearing, thus no ruling was requested. Judge Penny indicated she would schedule a hearing as soon as possible so Britney could file her petition.
After Britney’s testimony surfaced on social media, support from fans and peers were thrown her way as many took to social media to share kind words.
