In news just in, comedian Bill Cosby has been freed from incarceration after serving two years of a three-to-ten-year sentence for allegedly drugging and assaulting former Temple University employee Andrea Constand.

According to the report:

“Cosby was sentenced in September 2018 to three to 10 years in state prison for allegedly drugging and sexually assaulting former Temple University employee Andrea Constand in 2004.

“Last year, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court agreed to hear two points in Cosby’s appeal to overturn his 2018 sexual assault conviction.

“In a ruling released Wednesday, the state Supreme Court concluded that Cosby’s prosecution should never have occurred due to a deal the comedian cut with former Montgomery County prosecutor Bruce Castor, who agreed not to criminally prosecute Cosby if he agreed to give a deposition in a civil case brought against him by Constand.

“The decision went on to say that Cosby was the victim of an unconstitutional “coercive bait-and-switch.” Cosby cannot be retried on the criminal charges.”

Moments after his controversial release, Cosby jumped on Twitter to reiterate his stance on the newly-dropped charges, maintaining his innocence as he had from the start of the trial.

He tweeted: “I have never changed my stance nor my story. I have always maintained my innocence.
Thank you to all my fans, supporters and friends who stood by me through this ordeal. Special thanks to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court for upholding the rule of law. #BillCosby”

Cosby’s release seemed to have prompted a mixed response on social media, as the comedian was met with both angry and sympathizing fans sharing their opinions on the matter. See below for some reactions.
