R. Kelly’s attorneys are fighting a request by federal prosecutors to introduce new allegations in the singer’s forthcoming sex trafficking trial in Brooklyn.

Prosecutors are asking a judge’s authorization to consider additional charges in court, which include sexual abuse of minors, unlawful imprisonment, bribery, and physical abuse.

According to the new allegations, Kelly allegedly sexually abused a 17-year-old boy, teenage girls, and several women back in 1991, including having a fake ID made for Aaliyah in 1994, when she was only 15 because he believed she was pregnant with his child and “could not then be forced to testify against him in court.”

Kelly’s attorneys, Thomas Farinella and Nicole Becker are now contending that the newest request is “unequivocally inadmissible under the Federal Rules of Evidence” and would violate Kelly’s constitutional rights and right to a fair trial.

Per the Chicago Sun Times, a court filing stated: “The government’s request is untimely, not relevant and if permitted will cause severe prejudice to Mr. Kelly of which such prejudice outweighs the probative value.”

According to TMZ, Kelly’s attorneys also stated that possible jurors have already been handed questionnaires, which are “void of a single question about their opinions or feelings on same-sex relationships.” Hence, they suggest that, should claims of a male victim be introduced in court, it will be unjust to Mr. Kelly.
