Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher opened up about their family’s bathing practices, which include fewer showers for the kids, a practice most parents would consider appropriate.
The couple claims that they don’t bathe their children until they “see dirt.” The pair was guests on Dax Shepard’s “Armchair Expert,” where the pair admitted to the practice after host Shepard introduced the topic.
Kristen Bell’s husband, it turns out, also has a more relaxed attitude toward baths, explaining to his guests that he keeps trying to persuade his co-host Monica Padman that she isn’t required to scour her entire body with soap every day.
Rather, he believes that all one has to worry about are “soles and holes.” Many people believe that excessive bathing might deplete the body’s natural oils, which can be harmful to general health.
Mila concurred, adding she’d always had a more laid-back attitude to bathing considering she grew up without hot water for the most part, so it wasn’t much of a pleasant and soothing experience for her.
Her husband Ashton, however, explains that he simply cleans his “armpits and crotch” on a regular basis.
“I wasn’t that parent that bathed my newborns, ever,” Mila said of her approach toward bathing when her family grew.
Wyatt, 6, and Dimitri, 4 do bathe more frequently now that they are older, but still not on a regular basis. “If you can see dirt on them,” said Ashton, “Clean them. Otherwise, there’s no point.”
The Hollywood couple admitted to devoting more time to their faces, however, Ashton insists on not using soap. Rather, he claimed he’ll merely wet his face with water after a workout “to get all the salts out.”
Mila, on the other hand, is a touch more conventional in this regard, confessing to washing her face twice a day. She explained to have battled acne for much of her life, even going as far as to attempt skin-care medications, until she claims her “hormones balanced in the right direction” after childbirth.
When social media caught word of the couple’s assertions about bathing, Twitter lost it, which led to dozens of folks making jokes about their lifestyle practices and modifying and creating memes.
