Fans have recently speculated that Ariana Grande may launch a cosmetics brand called REM, after introducing a perfume with the same name.
Fans have uncovered clues on social media indicating that the ‘Motive’ singer is ready to enter the beauty industry. With the popularity of her peers’ brands, such as Rihanna’s Fenty and Selena Gomez’s Rare, the singer may be strongly considering the venture.
R.E.M. was first introduced on Ari’s 2018 album Sweetener, and it stands for Rapid Eye Movement, a term used to describe a sleep cycle in which people experience highly vivid dreams. It’s also said to be when individuals experience their most intense sexual dreams, which was supposedly what Ariana was relating to falling in love in her 2018 track.
The acronym then appeared again in 2020, when Ari launched a perfume fragrance called R.E.M.
Some Arianators have also discovered a new Instagram account and website dedicated to “r.e.m. Beauty” with the singer’s mother, Joanne Grande, also amongst the followers of the brand’s page.
That’s not all, Ariana’s friend Doug Middlebrook also uploaded a photo on Instagram stories in front of an enormous REM billboard at NYC’s Times Square while tagging the singer.
One of the clearest hints thus far has been the rumored trademark registration. The filing lists REM as a beauty product brand that will include highlighters, lipstick, lash serum, and makeup sponges.
