Ari Lennox appears to be taking a more drastic approach to keep her mental health safe.
Lennox took to Instagram to address her fans and the public about her decision to not perform at any shows that will require her travel, citing her struggle with aerophobia.
She explained, “For my mental health and my sanity, I will not be doing any shows that require me to fly. I can not keep torturing myself with this huge fear of mine. It is literally destroying my health. Enough is enough.”
Lennox went on, “I’m so sorry to all inconvenienced by this. Don’t know what this will mean for my career, but I just can’t do it.” She concluded by saying, “If there’s any peers or anyone out there who knows of a great hypnotherapist, therapist, and/or fear of flying solutions I would be so grateful.”
Her comments come months after she expressed her wish to be dropped by her record label earlier this year, stating that she wanted to “be free.” It was later reported that the singer had parted ways with her management firm.
A representative for the singer said at the timet:
“Ari Lennox and her management team Black Wax amicably decided to part ways. Lennox first signed with the company in 2012. She still considers them family and is beyond thankful for the business ventures and memories. She’s currently working on her sophomore album and is excited for the future endeavors that are in store for her.”
