According to reports, drama series actor, Angela Bassett has been named the highest-paid actress of color in drama.
Per Deadline, the 9-1-1 star will now seek “north of $450,000 an episode,” which “could be the highest ever for an actress of color on a broadcast drama series.”
Bassett’s increased pay reflects her dual roles as actor and executive producer. After beginning off as a co-EP, she has held the title since Season 2. She also holds an EP role in 911’s Lone Star production.
Bassett joined the Fox drama after being nominated for an Academy Award for her part in the 1993 film ‘What’s Love Got to Do With It.’
Kerry Washington, who reportedly began off on Scandal at $80K per episode, is another prominent actor that brings in the cash. However, due to the show’s phenomenal popularity, she was given a hefty raise of $250K each episode. However, the actress earns even more on Hulu’s ‘Little Fires Everywhere’ where she is paid $1.1 million per episode.
Additionally, Chandra Wilson’s salary on ABC’s medical drama Grey’s Anatomy, which began in 2007, has been increased to “at least” $125K per episode. Wilson is reportedly closer to receiving $375K similar to what her co-star Justin Chambers was reportedly earning at the time of his departure.
Meanwhile, How to Get Away With Murder actress Viola Davis was reportedly earning $250K each episode. Although, it is rumoured that the star actress was nearing $450k by the end of the hit series.
