Following a long delay due to the pandemic, the trial of R. Kelly is finally underway, and further damaging testimony of the singer’s character has been shared, a woman currently being referred to as ‘Jane Doe’, who at the time of her relationship with Kelly, was a teenager.

Per Jane’s testimony, she’d made it known to Kelly that she was an aspiring artist herself, after which he invited her to come and stay with him as his girlfriend.

It all began when she met R. Kelly in 2015, at 17 years old and she revealed that the disgraced singer was adamant about being called ‘Daddy’ by her and other women.

Jane told the jury that Kelly spanked her like a kid, beat her like a man, forced her to wear large clothes, and even demanded she asks for permission to leave any room (which includes the restroom). Jane also testified that he forced her to videotape herself performing embarrassing acts as “punishment” for defying him. She claims in one video that he forced her to consume excrement and smear it on her face. Kelly’s other female companions were also in a relationship with him and faced similar scrutiny.

Jane told the court: “I eventually learned that we were actually all living together. He (Kelly) told me to listen to whatever they said because it was basically coming from him.”

Jane went on to say that all the women in the house, including herself, were not permitted to discuss their personal life beyond his walls, saying, “If it was anything outside of that, we would get in trouble.”

Jane claims she was also forbidden from discussing her relationship with the aforementioned women and that after she told Kelly she was kissing and telling, he pressured her to sleep with one of his employees called “Nephew.”

Jane testified saying, “He wanted me to please Nephew the same way I would please him.”

Following her testimony, assistant US Attorney Elizabeth Geddes inquired if she wanted to have sex with Nephew, to which Jane responded, no.

However, Jane was cross-examined by R. Kelly’s lawyer, Deveraux Cannick, who asserted that Jane wasn’t being held against her will, asking her, “You could have gone home, am I correct?”

In response, Jane acknowledged that she was capable.

After leaving Kelly three months after his arrest in 2019, Jane Doe decided to assist with the prosecution prior to the global crisis in 2020.
