It would seem the G-Unit founder wasn’t joking when he claimed to be committed to mentoring the ‘Rockstar’ rapper almost a month ago, as 50 has chosen to stand by Dababy in his recent incident involving the LGBTQIA community.

50 Cent said on E!’s Nightly Pop that he expects DaBaby to recover from the recent controversy surrounding his homophobic statements last month.

He explained: “He is a really talented, special artist, right?. And he just transitioned from being in that pool that everyone’s in as a Rap artist. Like, they didn’t notify him that he’s turning into a superstar.”

Fif went on: “There’s nobody that tells you, ‘Now, you’re held to these standards’ that are mainstream standards that you can’t say things and you can’t do these different things.

“He didn’t have a publicist involved and this is why the response took so long. Even his apology, the first apology attempt at it, was what made it worse. You know what it is? When a person makes a general statement, ‘cause he made a general statement on stage, he’s not directing that to any individual, but what happens is he’s still new and he’s being attacked by individuals.”

He then adds: “He’s only two years into his career. There’s no artist development. There’s no strong A&R in this. There’s definitely no media training.”

Continuing, 50 admitted that he strongly believes the ‘VIBEZ’ rapper can “bounce back” from the incident, saying, “Remember they tried to cancel Chris Brown five or six times.”

50’s statements come just over two weeks after DaBaby’s homophobic comments at Rolling Loud Miami, where he appeared to be attacking people with HIV/AIDS and spilling seemingly hateful comments about homosexuals.

Since his predicament, several LGBTQ and HIV-focused groups have reportedly written to DaBaby last week, seeking a private meeting with the rapper to educate him on HIV in the hopes of having him become a long-term advocate for the condition.
