As investigations proceed into the shooting of Sasha Johnson, new information sees an 18-year-old man, appear in court for his involvement in the case. Ms. Johnson, 27, is still in critical condition following the attack at a house party in Peckham, south London, early Sunday.
The suspect, Cameron Driggs, 18, of Bromley Hill, Lewisham, was charged with conspiracy of murder on Friday night. Mr. Deriggs did not enter a plea when he appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court and was remanded in jail.
Ms. Johnson was shot in the head, while another person was wounded in the foot, according to prosecutor Carol Udenze. She said: “The Crown’s case is that the defendant, in agreement with others, conspired to murder somebody at that address.”
Ms. Udenze affirmed that Ms. Johnson was likely not the primary target according to the police.
Mr. Deriggs is set to return to court at the Old Bailey on June 25th.
According to investigators, Ms. Johnson was one of 30 people having a silent party in the backyard of a property on Consort Road when four persons in black clothes came in via a side gate and fired shots.
The Metropolitan Police’s Det Ch Insp Richard Leonard said she was shot in the “ensuing melee” before the suspects escaped. Four other guys detained in connection with the incident have been released on bail until late June.
